Google I/O 2019

AR Core Demos

For Google I/O 2019, VirtuLabs partnered up with Novel to develop a series of Augmented Reality demos to highlight the new features of AR Core.

The development of these experiences was entirely done in Unity3D with the help of 3D softwares such as Maya and Cinema4D.

We helped developing Four experiences: Collaborative Garden, Augmented Images, Augmented Faces, and Realism.

Collaborative Garden

A multiplayer augmented reality experience using Cloud Anchors to create a shared AR experience for all users around the garden.
As players hold their phones in front of the garden, a set of flowers appear on the table and each user will be tasked to find seeds to plant. Other users can see each other’s activity through AR.

Augmented Faces

Creating whimsical face masks has never been as easy and responsive. Using 468 points for the face, we tried to demonstrate creative opportunities for face mask applications.

Realism

As a new feature of ARCore, it enables augmented reality to look native to the environment by creating a dynamic light map from the environment.
A realistic digital mannequin next to an actual physical mannequin showcased the power of realism in AR.
