AI Generative Art

A stunning generative art installation for the new Chevron headquarters, featuring a 30-foot curved video wall. The project required VirtuLabs to develop a custom AI, write software and design the system integration to realize the vision of an abstract landscape, dreaming itself in real time. This project leverages advanced AI technology to produce dynamic, real-time landscapes that reflect the natural surroundings of San Ramon, CA.

To achieve this, we developed a custom AI model, training it with landscape photos taken at dawn, midday, and dusk. This extensive training enabled the AI to understand and replicate the local color palettes, flora, and topographies.

Art and Technology

Utilizing data such as topographical and seismic maps and employee portraits, we integrated these elements into a particle system. Each cube in the system reflects the faces of Chevron employees, embedding the company's heritage and workforce into the artwork's DNA. A critical technical component of this installation was the use of powerful NVIDIA chips on a high-performance local server. This setup is essential for the real-time AI generative art and rendering system, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted processing and visually stunning animations.

By merging advanced AI technology with powerful NVIDIA hardware, VirtuLabs has crafted an installation that not only showcases true innovation but also celebrates Chevron's 'people energy' in a visually stunning and meaningful way. The result is an energy field in its own right, ever generating new landscapes based on the collective presence of Chevron’s employees.

Dynamic Visualization

The AI engine dynamically generates new landscapes, shaped and colored by the seed images. This ever-evolving display symbolizes the collective energy and innovation of Chevron’s people, continually creating new and unique visual experiences that resonate with the natural environment outside the headquarters.
